  2. That is a good question. I didn’t know the answer so I went to the internet. Despite about 30mins of search I could find very little information. But the consensus seems to be that the salt residue would not be pure and clean enough – it has other natural minerals plus possible contamination from the process. So it could be used but it would have to be purified which would cost a lot of money, and significantly more money than existing salt.

    On the enviro side they mix the salt with water discharge to dilute it which helps
