I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Boron Zone. It has a range of scientists studying all different topics. Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
I have seen an estimate of 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars. This is based on their being between 200 and 400 billion stars in the Milky Way, and about 500 billion galaxies in the universe. Phew!

That’s a tricky question to answer! Our best estimate is at least 9,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars in the observable universe.
There are about 200 billion stars in our galaxy, the Milky Way. We can see about 125 billion galaxies directly, but there are lots of galaxies we cannot see, because they are either too far away for their light to have reached us, or they are hidden by very dense gas and dust. So we will only ever know the minimum number of stars in the Universe!
