Challenging and interesting as has been said above, Also exciting, frustrating (occasionally tedious), inspiring and fulfilling at different times.

Definitely it’s challenging and interesting to be a scientist, but also fun, frustrating and tremendously satisfying. Definitely not boring, although occasionally you might have to do a repetitive task to reach your end goal.
