Question: What is your vision?

Keywords:

  1. I work in a fundamental area of science – so there is no burning question that I need to answer for the sake of society. I am not trying to solve the world’s energy problems, or work out how to prevent the collapse of biodiversity (although these are important issues – so maybe I should be!). Instead am tinkering away in theoretical physics – finding out stuff all the time, mostly because it is interesting and fun – and other people working on this sort of thing find it useful. I guess I would like to help discover some sort of idea that helps organise our knowledge – those are the things that are important in trying to put a framework on how we understand the universe.

  2. My vision is that we as humans can lower our impact (ecological footprint) on the planet and balance the worlds natural and physical resources more equally throughout the world

  3. My vision is to help people understand the wildlife they find in their local area. Thereby increasing the public’s appreciation and tolerance of wildlife, where they live and indeed right across the country. 😀

  4. I would love it if one day the majority of people in society appreciated science and how it works and benefits our day to day lives. I feel that science and scientists have been placed more and more in a negative light for no real reason (whether it’s related to climate change, nanotechnology, genetically modified foods, etc). This is one of the reasons that I’ve entered this competition and that I do science communication at all. I don’t feel that everyone has to become a scientist, but by understanding how science works, then some of the misguided fears surrounding scientific results and outcomes will be alleviated.
