Yes, but not for work! Which is a little unusual, because Italy has some very strong research groups in my area – and I have even supervised a PhD student from Italy for the last four years. I got to go on holiday when I finished my own PhD.

Yes have been three times – once for a conference in Sardina, a snowboarding trip to just outside Turin and for a long weekend on the coast near Pisa. The conference was work, but not science related, the other two were personal trips.

Yes, twice! The first time was for a holiday where I saw all the fantastic sights of Rome, Florence and Venice. The second time was for a work conference just outside of Rome; the venue was where Pope Gregory signed the official documents to change the calendar to what we know today!
