Question: When your deep sea diving why do you need to equalise your ears when they start hurting?

Keywords: , , ,

  1. The middle ear contains air so as you go deeper there is more pressure in you outer ear and it pushes your eardrum inwards causing pain. So you need to balance the pressure in your middle ear with your inner & outer ear. By equalising you get higher pressure air from your throat into you middle ear.
