There are three loops in your ears (I think) that have fluid in them that basically tell your brain which way is up. When you spin around these get all mucked up (as you can imagine) and your brain doesn’t know what to do. That’s the best I can do without google!

there a many different kinds of dizziness – getting dizzy from spinning is often called vertigo which is when both you and the surroundings feel like they are spinning. At least 2 things happen when you spin the first is that you lose you visual surrounds that you body uses to help maintain stability and the second is what matthew was talking about which is when the fluids in your inner ear move about which changes the pressure signal to the nerves

There is also a third mechanism in your joints – which like your ears and your eyes tell you your moving. However the information supplied by these three different sources may be in conflict. If this is the case you feel disoriented and sometimes “dizzy” 🙂
