No, not for me. My Mum and Dad managed a tavern/bottleshop most of their lives, and most of my extended family were farmers.

Yes, both my parents were scientists before they retired. My dad was a cell biologist and my mum work in a pathology lab in a hospital in Sydney. My uncle was a nuclear physicist and one of my cousins works for the CSIRO in carbon capture and storage. So I guess I come from a pretty scientific background!

Yes! My mum did a maths degree and worked in defence for a while, and my dad started a chemistry degree, but he had to stop due to illness. One of my grandparents was a pharmacist, and my mother in law is also a pharmacist. My husband has an engineering degree but he does not work as a scientist or engineer now.

My parents were both teachers. Myself & one of my cousins have PhDs and are scientists. My partner has a PhD in from genetics but she now works for the Australian Government on climate change in the Great Barrier Reef.
