I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Boron Zone. It has a range of scientists studying all different topics. Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
Well, I don’t know if “invented” is the right word. I guess I was the first person to write down a particular form of a certain equation that has subsequently been used by a small number of other people. I also have developed a particular integration algorithm – a method of solving equations. Scientists more often discover things than invent things I think!

Have invented different styles of nesting boxes to try and improve up-take by the various wildlife species we are targeting. Nothing earth shattering, but simpler for those installing the boxes and hopefully better for the wildlife.

I invented a rope and floatation system to catch dugong & co-invented a trap to catch freshwater turtles -no one else uses them except us 🙂 I am currently trying to develop a gps system to attach to sea turtles (really this is just modifying existing technology rather then inventing).

Invented is probably not the right word for me either. I’ve come up with new ways of doing things (algorithms, as described by Matthew) which have made the process of discovering planets easier. These new methods have helped me find new planets. I guess astronomy is more a discovery science than one full of inventions, at least for most people.
