Good question! The answer is yes. The Sun and most stars are made up of hydrogen, a small amount of helium and then a very tiny amount of everything else (iron, carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, etc).

Just to be entirely clear – our sun *is* a star. There is nothing special about it at all – it is just an average star in the outer region of the Milky Way.
