Sea animals could die if the sea water was too polluted etc. But some animals may be able to move to cleaner water. However, there are some animals known as generalist species that could live in polluted waters. For example this year in north QLD 72 otherwise healthy turtles died presumably because of poor water quality – tests are still ongoing. Also in Gladstone last year many species were dying and people were blaming poor water quality, but tests were not certain. It may also not just be polluted “yuky” water but if storms and cyclones destroy food like sea grass and animals could die or be forced away.
