I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Boron Zone. It has a range of scientists studying all different topics. Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
That’s a difficult one to answer actually! When I was at university I learnt that everything that comes near a black hole is captured by its intense gravity, but no one ever really talked much about what happens to it or where it goes. I think that all mass is probably converted into energy (through E=mc^2), but I love science fiction stories, so part of me would love to think that there was a gateway to another dimension. Very unlikely, but wouldn’t it be great?

I don’t think we really know. The physics of black holes isn’t really very precise I believe, because you need to combine quantum theory with gravity – and that is a MAJOR problem that many people are trying to solve, but there hasn’t been a lot of progress in the last 30 years!
